NTT, China Mobile, Brings International WLAN Roaming To China.

Japan's NTT is bringing International WLAN roaming to many areas in China like, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Qingdao (Shandong Province), and Qinhuangdao (Hebei Province), including Beijing Capital International and Qinhuangdao airports. The access points operated by China Mobile Communications Corporation (China Mobile) in the People’s Republic of China and the service is available from the begining of 2009.

According to a press release, subscribers to NTT Com’s HOTSPOT™, OPEN Plan or OPEN Plan Light WLAN service will be able to log into China Mobile’s WLAN using their existing user IDs and passwords at more than 800 access points in above mentioned areas.

For the existing users, new roaming service does not require a separate subscription or startup fee. Roaming via the China Mobile access points will cost 25 yen per minute (tax exempt). As a special introductory offer, the service will be free for the month of January.
