Google Docs, Enhanced For Android Tablets

http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Google Docs team updated the Google Docs app for Android today to provide even better experience of Google Docs on your Android tablet. I was pretty pleased already how it behaved on my Asus EEE Pad Transformer but the new design makes it pleasure to work with. The Google DOcs team has customized the look to make the most of the larger screen space on tablets. The new layout consisting of a three-panel view, allows me to navigate through filters and collections, view your document list, and see document details, including a thumbnail preview of the document on one place.
No more opening of many documents before you find the right one.
All these are available in 46 languages on tablet devices with Android 3.0+ (Honeycomb) and above. Head over to the Android Market.

Eee Pad Slider SL101 Tablet Unboxed!

Eee Pad Slider SL101 Tablet Unboxed!http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
As a very happy owner of Asus EEE Pad Transformer, complete with keyboard dock add on, I am very interested on other Asus Tablet creations.
Eee Pad Slider SL101 Tablet comes equipped with a NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile processor, running on 1GB of DDR2 memory, and a choice of 16GB or 32GB solid state drives for storage. The display is like that of EEE Pad Transformer in size, a 10.1-inch IPS multi-touch display with 178 degree viewing angles. The unit is powered by a 25 W/h Li-polymer battery good for up to 8 hours of continuous use.
Well if it to your liking, you can see it being un-boxed here.

Asus EEE Pad Transformer Gets Android 3.2

Asus EEE Pad Transformer Gets Android 3.2 http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Starting 28th of July Asus EEE Pad Transformer will receive Android 3.2 update and as we have mentioned before, it will bring Netflix to the EEE Pad Transformer.
This is the last honeycomb update before the unifying platform for 'Ice Cream Sandwich' for phones and tablets.
Android 3.2 will also bring "Compatibility zoom" to tablets to make it more pleasant to use phone apps on tablets.
All said and done I am awaiting for mine to update.

Android 3.2 Update Will Bring Netflix To Asus EEE Pad Transformer!

Netflix on Asus EEE Pad Transformer! http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Looks like Asus is testing Android 3.2 on EEE Pad Transformer, and there are talks of owners of EEE Pad Transformer getting official Netflix app. with the Android 3.2 update.
My EEE Pad just got the Android 3.1 update. So I am hoping that the next update will come sooner and bring what Asus tells us in the EEE Pad spec page.
Most of the Android tablets are getting the Netflix app or able to sideload the app. But EEE Pad Transformer owners are in a bit of jinx in the that direction. Yes of course you can root the device and jump through some hoops to get it working like the XDA forum explains.
I cannot root my device as I am developing a vertical market app and the people who are paying for the app wants absolute clean slate. So I am out of the rooting solution for the moment
So I will stay watching Netflix on my iPad 2 :) , yes I got one of those too but that is a whole another story.
I can tell you, I love my Asus EEE Pad Transformer (which is getting a partner, a 3G enabled EEE pad soon), in fact 64GB WiFI+3G iPad sat in the very box for a few days before I opened it. It is not bad but as far as I am concerned it lives up to and because of the hype. I have not put the iPad through the hoops like I have done with the EEE pad and before that the Motorola XOOM.
In any case if you are the rooting type follow the link to XDA Forums to find out how to do it. I am going to trust Asus and wait for them to provide me with Netflix App.

Android Challenging Microsoft In Netbook Arena?

http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Android has been a challenge to most mobile handset makers and from the various adaptations by cellular phone makers to include Android OS on their phones clearly shows that. Microsoft clearly wants its own space in the mobile world with Winmo or Windows Mobile. I have had many windows mobile based phones but after the first week or so, I began to use them as just a phone, forgetting about bells and whistles. But the reviews of Windows Mobile 6.5 seems to up the ante.
But I am a fan of Android and iPhone and I carry both now! Each complements the other in various tasks and I do not lug a notebook with me anymore. I even manage a few Oracle Server using these two.
I am also a fan of Netbooks and I own linux and windows XP based Acer Ones. Pretty happy with them for what they were brought for. Blogging from coffeeshops and on campus grounds.
But today I read on Bloomberg that Asus is planing to put Android OS on one of their Netbooks, forgoing WIndows. I would not say Linux as Android is based on a Linux varient.
"

An Android-powered notebook would extend Google’s rivalry with Microsoft into the market for software that runs personal computers, where Windows controls more than 90 percent of the market. Netbooks, scaled-down laptops that offer basic e-mail and Internet functions, are the fastest-growing segment of the PC industry, with shipments projected to almost double this year as the overall market slows.

“With the strength of Google behind it, Android could really challenge Microsoft and steal some market share,” said Calvin Huang, a computer-industry analyst at Daiwa Securities Group Inc. in Taipei. “The benefit is the free license and you can use a lower-power, cheaper processor.”"
