Offline Gmail Gets Attachments!

If you are one of those who requested ability to attach files to your emails while composing offline, you can smile now. GMail engineers have made the changes necessary so that attachments work the same way whether you are online or offline. You can just compose your message, add attachments and just send the message off.
In order to use this feature, you need to enable offline access through the GMail Labs tab;

1. Select Enable next to Offline Gmail.
2. Click Save Changes.
3. After your browser reloads, you'll see a new "Offline" link in the upper right hand corner of the Gmail page, next to your username. Click this link to start the offline set up process and download Gears if you don't already have it.
   

If you do use the offline GMail, the GMail team would love to see photos of you using GMail from unusual places, like with a netbook from a mountain top or a ski lift! If you do, send the photos to hikingfan@gmail.com and you might see yourself on the GMail blog!

Androids In Your Chat, A New GMail Labs Feature.

Shirley is online with Android, Nicolle R. is using regular Gmail chat, and Chris I. is currently away but also on Android. Slatka is not an angry robot — she's online with Android but currently busy.

If you are a regular Google Chat user (on Gmail) now there is a way to know if your buddies are chatting from an Android Phone or device using Android Chat. Your chat buddies will show up as robot icons when they chat from Android.
I think it is better because you can send a small precious messages to those who are on the Android phones.
But I wonder if the users are utilizing those upcoming Android based tablets and netbooks need to have shorter messages, they can chat like any computer based chat user.
In any case it is a nice variation from those dots!

Exclude Wrong BOB from Your Email With The Help Of "Got the wrong Bob?"

Google GMail labs have introduced "Goth The Wrong Bob?" feature that helps to eliminate costly mistakes of sending email to the wrong person, when you have multiple Bobs or Smiths in your contact list. Once enabled the feature will learn from your frequent emails people whom you group together. And if a unfamilier Bob get into the list it will question you if this is the real Bob you meant to send the email, like below.

If you normally email Bob Smith together with Tim and Angela, but this time you added Bob Jones instead, we'll warn you that it might be a mistake. Note that this only works if you're emailing more than two people at once.

Take Care Of GMail Label Clutter, Hide read labels

GMail Lab folks have introduced a new lab feature that makes it easier to keep the left plank of you GMail page cleaner and neater.
This could be done with

feature called "Hide read labels." Turn it on from the Labs tab under Settings and all your labels without unread messages will be hidden under the "More" menu. Labels with unread messages will automatically show up, unless you've explicitly chosen to keep them hidden.

I really can use this as I have way too many labels and way too many emails to be read and responded. On a side note, I love the way the GMail Spam Filter works, Super!

Panic Button For GMail :Undo Send

People at Gmail Labs seem to be pretty busy! This is the second post I am making today regarding GMail and the GMAil Labs. Earlier I wrote about the new Video review for GMail.
But now you have a Panick button that is active for 5 Seconds after you click send.
If you have emailed a joke about your boss, to your collegues and inadvertently included your boss as well in the bad boy email, you have 5 seconds to scrutinize the senders names and if you happen to notice the boss' name there you can click UNDO SEND. (Before testing nasty emails to your boss, make sure you enable undo setting in you setting under labs.)
Good work, So many times I forget to attach the attachments to my email, only to write another with appologies and the attachment. Now I can seve my appologies.

Gmail Labs Add YouTube, Picasa, Flickr and Yelp previews

Gmail Labs has a few preview features added to GMail. They are YouTube videos, Picasa images, Flickr images, and Yelp reviews. You can preview all the above in your Gmail before opening up the picture or the video.
I noticed that Flickr, a competing photo service to Picasa lying next to each other. I think it is clever thinking in the part og GMail team. But if you think you have something that GMail should preview, follow the link below to inform GMail crew.

Gmail To Google Docs With One Click

As I have mentioned many a times, I am using Google services more and more and Google gives me more reasons to keep the habit up. Gmail has become one of the best email vehicles for me and recent Gmail Lab add ons like SMS from Chat and Gmail for Mobile, have made it more attractive.
There is another feature in the Gamil labs not that might make your life easier or might lead to novel uses of Gmail or email.
Gmail Labs Create a Document "Allows you to create a Google Document from an email conversation (No more cutting and pasting that proposal) or a new blank document if your keyboard shortcuts are enabled by hitting 'g' then 'w'."
You will find it way down in tour Gmail Labs tab, (the beaker symbol)
