Google Voice without Google Number, your existing number

Google Voice has made it even easier to use by allowing your existing number to be your Google Number, Google Voice announced today.

As we have already told many of you, Google Voice and Google Number have made our lives and communications much easier to handle. We are able to to do call recording, call screening, getting text messages and even have transcribed Google voicemail messages as email.

So either way, with a Google Number or your own number, you will have ability to use many of the features that Google Voice offers, like the Google Voicemail.

There are many ways you can get an Google Voice account, one is to request an invite directly from Google or someone who already has a Google Voice account.

If you have used Google Voice, you know how convenient it is to manage your phones callers and associated messages with it. (If you do not have a Google Voice Number, you can get one at Google Voice, Sign up for an invitation.)
When it comes to Google Voice, I rarely dial my own Google Number to listen to Voice mail. It is because Google Voice Transcribes my voicemail and emails them to me.
But what ever the reason if you are dialing in for Google Voicemail, Google has made some changes that makes your access to voicemail faster.
Now when you dial your own Google number, your voicemails will be played without having to press 1. Secondly they have also changed the order of how your voicemails are played. Now it plays the most recent voicemail first.

Google Voice gives you many features that makes your life easier. But if you put your imagination to work, you can get a few more things done.
Just imagine, you get a call from your wife or husband (May be even your kids) asking you to pick up some items on the way home. You are at your office, having a conversation about your new project with your collegue(S) or in the middle of a meeting. Google Voice Voicemail is not Publicly searchable.

I can search my GMail on the web as long as I am logged into my account, do I worry about my mail being public, yes and no. Yes because I want to keep my email private and no because I know my data is private with Google unless I share them with others. That goes for all other information that I create and use on Google. I believe they are not searchable, yes voicemail included.

There was a big questions about Google Voice and it' voicemail privacy yesterday and I was too busy to respond. But Google Voice blog has clarified information for all of us.

Google Voice lets you access your voicemails online from your inbox. Your account is password-protected, like any other Google service, and its content cannot be read by anyone unless you choose to share the information in your account.

You can read and search as much as possible, but Google Voice Voicemail is not Publicly searchable. Follow the link if you need further conformation.
