According to this nice video by Salomondrin, there are clearly big differences between Blackberry Storm and the storm 2. The buttons on the previous phone which were seperate from the screen section, are part of the screen now.
Blackberry Storm 2 (Blackberry Odin) packs a Piezo electronic touch screen that behaves differently according to the device's power state. The screen is stiff and hard to to your touch when the device is off and it comes alive when powered on and has a touchy spongy feel to it. Unlike in most touch screen phones or devices, everyplace on the screen can be a button.
So when you press on a key, you do not have to worry about activating adjacent key or a button. The creator of the video, goes on to say that it is much easier and better to type on Storm 2 than iPhone or the previous incarnation of the Storm. The GSM and CDMA versions of the phone, both sport WiFi capability.

BlackBerry Storm 2 Gets WiFi!

A German Blog is reporting that Blackberry Storm 2 (codename odin; model 9550/9520/9900?)has WiFi capabilities, and has published photos to prove it.
According benezblog, the Blackberry Storm 2 in the image(s) has;

• Is branded as BlackBerry 9520
  
• has OS 5.0.0.138
  
• has WiFi (!)

But the latest out of RIM has OS 5.1 and branded as model 9990. The phone in question is a Vodaphone version and the US carrier Sprint might not have WiFi option but I guess Sprint will not make any more mistakes like iPhone decision. Benezblog has more photos which are of higher resolution.

BlackBerry Storm II, Confirmed By RIM.

BlackBerry Storm did not create that much of a sales movement for Blackberry like what Verizon did with Buy one get two BlackBerries did this year. So learning from the mistakes or not, RIM is planing on bringing the next generation of touchscreen (clickscreen) BlackBerry according to reuters but the news has little substance concerning the device itself.
There is no information how they plan to make the device better or what the new technology that they are going to introduce.

Asked about whether the BlackBerry Storm -- which debuted to mixed media reviews last year -- has been a hit, Balsillie, co-CEO of RIM, said "that product was a huge success in terms of sales and adoption." "we have next-generation devices with that and the whole roadmap."

Hope it is a roadmap to somewhere better, than a storm battered place.
