Again another juicy bit from Oracle VS Google via FOSS Patents, that was indicated as a bombshell, but I do not. The statement posted indicates;
Lead device concept: Give early access to the software to partners who build and distribute devices to our specification (ie, Motorola and Verizon). They get a non-contractual time to market advantage and in return they align to our standard.
And nowhere it describes it is a Motorola only deal. Any OEM who is willing to adhere to Google Android standard might be able to get the same deal. In any case it is thousand times correct me million times better than the OEM deals Apple give ( except for Foxconn, even without any squirms about deaths of Foxconn employees).

Will Oracle, Google Settle in Court On Android Java Case?

As per presiding Federal Judge's request, Google and Oracle are willing to discuss a settlement before a Magistrate Judge, with Google asking for a Magistrate Judge who is not involved with the case. I guess it could mean the Judge Donna Ryu, who is involved with discovery procedures.
Yes we hope they settle and remove at least one obstacle on the Android's path.

These patent law suits are digging up many things and among dirt, sometimes there are gems. Like the one Google bosses lost or chose to decline or laugh at. During the forming of Android, Andy Rubin expressed the value of Java to Android and his discussions with SUN and Schwartz excitement over the Redhat like Android with Open Source Java tells a big story.
But the biggest fact is that Google or some at the top decided that licensing Java for $100 million a year was ridiculous and now may have to pay for the short sightedness

Engadget, Nilay Patel has brought together some very interesting facts about Google's answer to the Oracle, regarding the Patent lawsuit involving Android and Java.
It seems a bit serious and looks like Google is set to go to war. But after reading Nilays post, I feel like Google should have ask to make it seven court cases, instead of one.
All the answers Google gave seems logical which Nilay has put down in a readable for. I too wonder why about some of Google's answers. Then again, I am no lawyer! and I thought Harmony will bring about peace.
