If you are a soho business owner and working from home office or a small office tucked away somewhere, then you high way tot he customers is via Internet. You have a DSL or Cable service. You also have a 3G service for your phone and notebook with a 3G dongle in case you are outside or wanted to work from a local park.
Well now you can make that 3G dongle work at home in case your DSL or Cable service take a hike, due to cable cut or power loss. If you have backup power service, you will be able to run your computers and have a connection to the net, until you resolve your troubles. This inexpensive and fun solution is similar to MiFi Routers offered by carriers.

Once that is done, you can start local wifi sharing by "ssh"ing into the Chumby or by pluging in a USB keyboard to the device and issue the command “touch /psp/start_ap” and your chumby One will work as an access point.
- Plug in your 3G card.
- Go to the Network Config screen by pressing the top button, going to Settings, then tapping on Network.
- Select "create a new connection", press OK, and wait for the scan to time out.
- Select "Other"
- Enter 3G as the name of the access point. It must have a capital G for it to work.
- Wait for the subsequent scan to time out.
- Select "Manual".
- Tap "OK" to select None as the encryption type.
- Tap "OK" to select Automatic IP allocation.
- Tap "OK" to confirm settings and connect to the network
