If you ever had to deal with UPS, FedEx or your local Postal deliveries about your package, the Amazon purchase, not being dropped at right time, or having to collect at the respective package delivery service's office (which are just next to Timbuktu) because you could not be home on right time, now you can have your Amazon deliveries sent to your local 7-11 and pick it up at your convenience, 
Once a purchase is made and the delivery method is selected, Amazon will send you an email with a barcode that you could use at the storage systems kiosk to scan and obtain a pin code to open the locker containing your package.

We got a HP TouchPad to play around with when it was released and thought "nothing" of it. It was something furthest from what we wanted from a tablet and Asus EEE Pad Transformer remains on the top tablet followed by iPad2 3G in our favorite tablet list.

But last breath fro the ill fated HP Touchpad is making waves, at least on Amazon with resellers from all over trying to offload the beast.

It has made the first and second place on the best seller list on Amazon!

By steering efforts on webapps rather than native iOS apps, Amazon and Walmart is by passing 30% Apple Tax on content.

Following Apple guidelines, Amazon removed it's link to store in iOS Kindle App. The Apple iTunes guidelines require publishers to sign up customers through Apple and pay Apple a 30% cut. It also require whole bunch of other rules which small timers tend to follow due to lack of resources and means. But the likes of Amazon and Walmart have both and will act differently. Google, B&N too removed their in app purchases and indicated that the content could only bought through iPad's Safari Browser.

Walmart's VUDU allows users to have video on demand without subscriptions on any web enabled device, from computers, TVs, blueray players and Playstation. Walmart also announced the VUDU Web App.

We told about Financial Times Web App that did the same and thriving. Trend seem to continue as this is a convenient way to keep apps up to date and comply with various screen resolutions of other mobile devices, like Android tablets that Apple trying ban!

Apple wants App store for itself and want Amazon not to use the term :) and recently sent a cease and desist letter to GetJar to stop using App Store in it's service name, GetJar App Store, an Android Application store.
May be next will be all the bloggers, news sites, and services like WIP asking not to use the term App Store. I do not like bullies, I wish I could clobber the bully, like I did with High school bullies.
But it is not only me, GetJar CEO Patrick Mork had a few words to Apple too. With all the pancreatic jokes aside, seriously written lengthy article on Getjar Blog explains the legalese and timeline regarding why Getjar will not be listening to Apple's threats. Did Google And Amazon Help Apple To Get On Music Cloud Sooner?

After signing up with Warner Music earlier and now that Apple got EMI music (via CNET) on it's side, looks like the cloud streaming business is totally on it's side. You might wonder what about the other two big players in the music field? Sony and Universal?? yes they too seem to be on the way to sign on with Apple according to the same source.
Even though Apple has not announced about it's cloud streaming service, it has been at it for a while, discussing deals with the likes of Warner, EMI, Sony and Universal. According to CNET, all might be in Apple's bag, whether they want or not. Perhaps, the services from Google and Amazon may have accelerated these music labels jumping in with Apple that they do not like very much.
The license free or license less service from Google and Amazon has been announced without support from Music labels, in fact that have been crying foul all along. Now that Apple has Music labels on it's side will be able to offer much more services and enhancements than Google and Amazon could. So we might hear a different tune from Apple at this year's WWDC in June.

Amazon announced that it's kindle will go multi touch for the Windows 7. Kindle for PC was demonstrated today at Windows 7 release event. Now I might read books, Nah, I like to decimate forests read paper books. Specially the smell of books could not be replaced, unless Amazon sells scented Kindles.
