With LinkedIn Mobile growth approaching 400% year-over-year with the number of users, LinkedIn has launched the new mobile initiative with vigor. Given the popularity, LinkedIn’s mobile apps needed a face and body lift reflect a better user experience of the growing mobile user base. The company has released new iPhone and Android applications. These Apps have improvements in about four areas—Updates, Inbox, your profile, and groups. You could search for and access updates, your inbox, profile and connections from the previous versions of the iPhone and Android app, but the ability to browser and interact with your groups and add connections through LinkedIn’s ‘people you may know’ feature is new;

  • Updates: View updates from your network and top news from LinkedIn Today
  • Inbox: You can view your invitations and messages in one place
  • You: Access your profile, connections, share updates, and even more in the future
  • Groups & More: Browse and interact with your groups, as well as build your network through our People You May Know feature

Microsoft Windows Phone 7.1 "Mango" Officially Announced.

Microsoft has officially announced about Microsoft Phone "Mango" at the Microsoft’s Windows Phone VIP Reception. President of mobile communications at Microsoft, Andy Lees and senior Windows Phone product manager Derek Snyder has given a quick rundown of features and capabilities of the newest version of the Windows Phone platform, WP7.1 or “Mango.”

Supposedly there are 500 new features, but it looks like the main focus is centered around communication, applications, and the mobile internet. There are enhancements to the current service offerings in People Hub, now it has in addition to Facebook, Hotmail, and Gmail, two new services LinkedIn and Twitter.

One other interesting feature is that Mango will get Groups feature, which allows multiple people to communicate across a multiple platforms, while simultaneously integrating those people’s profiles, pictures, and a group history of all events and communication shared. Mango also employs Windows Live Messenger and Facebook Chat to keep you connected with friends, even those on other platforms.

The call history also get a nudge upwards with voicemail, missed calls, text messages, and any calendar events with regards to that particular contact integrated. Speech-to-text will also offer a completely hands-free experience for texting, which was definitely impressive in the demo according to Mobilecrunch.

LinkedIn Files For IPO

LinkedIn has filed a registration statement with SEC, Securities and Exchange Commission for proposed IPO of it's class A common stock. LinkedIn has not decided on the pricing nor the number of shares to be offered. The shares will come from LinkedIn as well as from some stockholders of LinkedIn.

Seesmic For iPhone In The App Store, Manage Your Twitter / Facebook Accounts.

I have had Seesmic on my Google Phone for a while and I like it for what it does. (Seesmic was available on Android and BlackBerry for a while now). Looks like I will be able to use Seesmic on iPhone now.
Seesmic just announced the app for the iPhone and is in the App Store.
