Another product that attracted attention at the Techcrunch Disrupt, among many other, was this Cardflick that we have been planing to write about.
Cardflick is a social app that lets you create a business card to your liking, from a large cache of templates or themes. Once you have created the business card, the fun comes. You can flick the card upwards to share it with people nearby and have the Cardflick app installed. Once the card appear on your screen, swipe it in the right, the right direction, to keep the card. If it is from someone you don't know or do not want to keep the card, swipe it to the left and the card will disappear in to the ether.

You also can share your business card with people who does not have the app via email and the email include your contact information in Vcard format so that it can be easily imported into a device’s contact list
The cards can be accessed via your contacts on the phone. The cards are kept updated and any changes you make to the card will be reflected on the cards on your contacts have via syncing built in to the app.
The webapp and the iOS app is ready and running and an Android beta is on the way. You can find all the information at CardFlick. By the way if you were flicked by their requirement that you sign in via facebook, that requirement is gone now and you can sign in with a username and password so flick right back.

Google Sites, driven primarily by video viewing at YouTube.com, ranked as the top online video content property in July with 158.1 million unique viewers, while VEVO ranked second with 62.1 million.

Boasted by 51.5 membership, Facebook has become the the third most popular video site in USA, according to Comscore. The social network surpassed Yahoo, Viacom and Microsoft to become the third largest video site in terms of unique viewers.

July also made other records, like Total viewing sessions, which reached all-time high, nearly 6.9 billion. Google was in the forefront again with Google Sites crossing the 3 billion mark to account for more than 40 percent of all viewing sessions online.

The average viewer, you and me, enjoyed 18.5 hours of online video during July, with 5.9 hours on Google Sites and 3.4 hours at Hulu streaming down content to become the top two providers.

It appears that Facebook does not like Google+, I guess in many a ways. But to have an ad for Google+ removed and banned from facebook, is something akin to removing friends from your circles :) , when you were in kindergarten. I guess some parts of facebook is still looking to grow!
It all happened when App developer, Michael Lee Johnson decided to be a big honcho on Google+ and decided to make facebook the launching pad for his Google plus fame. So hoping that all the Google plus users among millions of facebook users will ´ĺike´ him and ¨Add Micheal to Google+¨, placed an ad on facebook under the same heading;Bam! Bam!! Flintstones time, facebook wack the mole time, according to Michael, the ad and all of his other campaigns were canceled and his account was banned;

Mark Zuckerberg says that three things announced today will make the Social Infrastructure that he built solid, and will pave the way forward for years to come.
The tree things announced today, Group Chat, New Design, Video Chat (Skype) are not new nor awesome. But all of them plus the Facebook will make it awesome.
During the event Mark shared that people on Facebook are sharing 4 Billion things a day and certainly that is a lot of sharing.
Video calling demoed by the Facebook Seattle team and we were told that it is deployed to millions of users. They were pretty happy about one click video calling. The combination of Skype and Facebook is certainly a plus for millions of users of either service or both.
The Group Chat will have a new feature to your usual Facebook chat feature, you can add friends tot he chat and that is not much different from Group Chats we have seen over the years like GoogleTalk Group chat.
The new design, yes I am yet to see if it makes my Facebook experience awesome.
Now the Microsoft's Skype purchase seem less crazy!

Looks like Hulu sneaking on in to Facebook ahead of Netflix did not go very well. Right after it was launched, many people noticed the security breach and gave Facebook users, who tried to connect to the service, access to Hulu employee accounts.
Some how the breach was noticed and Hulu took the service offline in time. Hulu now has posted to say that everything is under control;

Here’s what we know: When we launched our Facebook Connect feature early this morning, we discovered that a small number of users weren’t seeing their own Hulu account information upon login. We’re still drilling down on the precise nature of the issue, but we know that it was a coding and configuration error on Hulu’s side, and not the result of hacking, or other third party actions, or a vulnerability in Facebook Connect. We’ve been able to confirm approximately 50 affected users whose profile data, including email addresses, could have been accessed. But no one gained access to Hulu systems or highly sensitive user information such as passwords or credit card numbers.

Once we are certain that the issue has been fully addressed, we will re-launch our Facebook Connect program.

So you can go soon and claim that free month of Hulu Plus they offered!

Techcrunch is reporting that, Facebook now has reached 750 users, (according to Facebook user count metric, a user who has logged in during last 30 days.) according to a undisclosed source close to the Facebook.
Last time the official count announcement was when the user base reaches 500 million users.

Microsoft has officially announced about Microsoft Phone "Mango" at the Microsoft’s Windows Phone VIP Reception. President of mobile communications at Microsoft, Andy Lees and senior Windows Phone product manager Derek Snyder has given a quick rundown of features and capabilities of the newest version of the Windows Phone platform, WP7.1 or “Mango.”

Supposedly there are 500 new features, but it looks like the main focus is centered around communication, applications, and the mobile internet. There are enhancements to the current service offerings in People Hub, now it has in addition to Facebook, Hotmail, and Gmail, two new services LinkedIn and Twitter.

One other interesting feature is that Mango will get Groups feature, which allows multiple people to communicate across a multiple platforms, while simultaneously integrating those people’s profiles, pictures, and a group history of all events and communication shared. Mango also employs Windows Live Messenger and Facebook Chat to keep you connected with friends, even those on other platforms.

The call history also get a nudge upwards with voicemail, missed calls, text messages, and any calendar events with regards to that particular contact integrated. Speech-to-text will also offer a completely hands-free experience for texting, which was definitely impressive in the demo according to Mobilecrunch.

In either case, the app which was thought about as a joke, has blossomed and attracted a couple of hundred thousand users within a day, and it must be more now.
As for the claims or denials of stalking, you be the judge, the developer Dan Loewenherz says;

"I just really hope people use it for good, not evil," he said. "It's really a practical thing. If you're going to refresh someone's page 20 times a day, why not have an alert on it?"

Either way, I am sure he will be happy with the app, which is free for now will charge, like $5 for tracking 7 people, man that is stalking made easy!

AT&T Adding More Phones And Tablets To It's Android Lineup

AT&T has confirmed what we reported last month, that AT&T is adding 12 Android Phones to it's Android lineup. At the developer summit it said that it will bring more Android devices and the 4G network to the fore in 2011.
Today ATD is telling us that it will bring the HTC Salsa and HTC ChaCha, The Facebook Smartphones from HTC as well as Motorola XOOM to it's network. May be some Facebook fans will stay with AT&T now.

Looks like Mark Zuckerberg's fan page got a doze of hacker attack. According to TechCrunch, There was a message seemingly posted by the Facebook CEO himself but the content says otherwise.

Due to user feedback and concerns regarding the sharing of data, including phone numbers, Facebook is halting the feature until it has a better grasp of the way to share these data with user approval.
Facebook made it available to Facebook developers to share data including phone numbers over the weekend.

Following is the exact statement by Facebook  on it's developer site.

Improvements to Permissions for Address and Mobile Number

On Friday, we expanded the information you are able to share with external websites and applications to include your address and mobile number. With this change, you could, for example, easily share your address and mobile phone with a shopping site to streamline the checkout process, or sign up for up-to-the-minute alerts on special deals directly to your mobile phone.
As with the other information you share through our permissions process, you need to explicitly choose to share this data before any application or website can access it, and you can not share your friends’ address or mobile number with applications. Also, like other data you make available to third party apps and websites, you can always clearly see and control the ways your information is being used in the Application Dashboard.
Over the weekend, we got some useful feedback that we could make people more clearly aware of when they are granting access to this data. We agree, and we are making changes to help ensure you only share this information when you intend to do so. We’ll be working to launch these updates as soon as possible, and will be temporarily disabling this feature until those changes are ready. We look forward to re-enabling this improved feature in the next few weeks.

It is hilarious the way big boys fight. Facebook lost the direct import of GMail contacts, mainly because Facebook refuses provide the same, as per Google's terms of service;
5.8. Google supports data portability. By accessing Content through the Contacts Data API or Portable Contacts API for use in your service or application, you are agreeing to enable your users to export their contacts data to other services or applications of their choice in a way that’s substantially as fast and easy as exporting such data from Google Contacts, subject to applicable laws.
And Facebook does not do that. Forget about Google, even you can't download your own contact info :).

Now Face book is providing you with another way provide your friends and relatives contact information. Even without that do not worry, they will have your data, through likes of deep linking Skype to Facebook!

Techcrunch is pushing Nsyght up as a very promising ones social world curator. So I checked out after reading what seems like a sales leaflet.
Yes it is a pretty useful tool, Nsyght allows you to bring together Twitter, Facebook, digg, Vimeo, Stumbleupon, Flickr, Delicious information, and yes it is fast, like TC mentioned. Add this to include Twitter saved searches and Twitter lists! I think, your social graph or social search is complete, more or less. I am going to check Curated.by, once I get an invite!

As we mentioned earlier about facephone post, facebook is denying of the facebook phone but admits deep integration with mobile devices from third parties. Facebook spokesperson Jaime Schopflin spoke to Mashable

"The story, which originated in Techcrunch, is not accurate. Facebook (Facebook) is not building a phone. Our approach has always been to make phones and apps more social. Current projects include include everything from an HTML5 version of the site to apps on major platforms to full Connect support with SDKs to deeper integrations with some manufacturers. Our view is that almost all experiences would be better if they were social, so integrating deeply into existing platforms and operating systems is a good way to enable this. For an example, check out Connect for iPhone and the integration we have with contact syncing through our iPhone app. Another example is the INQ1 phone with Facebook integration (the first so-called ‘Facebook Phone'). The people mentioned in the story are working on these projects. The bottom line is that whenever we work on a deep integration, people want to call it a "Facebook Phone" because that's such an attractive soundbite, but building phones is just not what we do."

OnStar will be releasing the first “entertainment-y” option to be offered bringing in car users with their eternal quest to be online, on facebook.
With all those hands free laws, it is harder to TEXT your messages, even if you are stuck in the traffic. So you would think it will be harder to use facebook while in the car. Not so it seems, Text-to-speech translation will be done on incoming notes and voice-to-text is said to be undergoing testing for outgoing updates.

This new Facebook technology may allow users to verbally update their status message and listen to their most recent “news feed” messages, Elizabeth Robbins, an OnStar spokeswoman, said

 OnStar, available on more than 40 vehicles from GM’s 2011 model year, has about 5.7 million subscribers, according to a regulatory filing from Detroit-based GM. OnStar and Google Inc. said in June they would partner to offer eNav, a turn-by-turn navigation feature that allows drivers to send Google Maps destinations to their vehicle.
