The Best Free SIP Account Providers in 2011 http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Keeping up with the tradition of providing the best free SIP account provider list, we have updated the list of Free SIP account providers. Please disregard all other lists.
IPTEL, the the original SER SIP server (Now famous forks, OpenSIPS and Kamailio) and associated services provider has continuously provided free SIP accounts for millions of users and remains our number one favorite. our next continuous Free SIP Provider is SIP2SIP which is a project by AG Projects and PBXs or i-p-tel GmbH, has been providing both free and paid services since we started.
AntiSIP, one of our favorite SIP Account for free providers has also been doing so uninterrupted while many big time providers has gone with the wind. GetonSIP is a new addition to our list and is a service of OnSIP, In addition to free SIP, they also provides free SIP clients for PCs and Android devices.
We have accounts on all the above service providers and have test the service with multiple equipment and softphones.
1. IPTEL.org, IPtel gave me the first taste of SIP a long time ago, at a time when people were asking what VoIP was. Register for an Account here.

New Free SIP Phones (SoftPhones), OfficeSIP Messenger And Flash2VoIP.
Free SIP Phones
As usual and while enjoying the Barcelona Sun Andy Abramson pointed me towards two new Free softphones, OfficeSIP Messenger And Flash2VoIP.
The OfficeSIP Messenger is targeted towards enterprises or SMBs with deployments of OCS (Office Communications Server) and is free. The application supports text, voice and video chats. OfficeSIP softphone implements ICE, STUN, and TURN protocols to traverse NAT and firewalls, and supports TLS for communication security.
The OfficeSIP Messenger runs only on windows platform.
Flash2VoIP is an unconventional and free SIP softphone. Unconventional because unlike most SIP Soft phones I have seen, this one is written in Adobe Flash. This means, that it will run on any platform that supports flash. This application can connect to any free SIP service provider or a commercial ones and make VoIP calls. Calls are free for up to 5 minutes and if you want to make calls longer than 5 minutes you need to purchase a subscription at $5 a month.

GUAVA For Android, GoogleVoice Unauthorized Android Voice Application.
Update:Sipdroid Project has left a comment as well as another reader regarding the GUAVA. I have had no time to investigate the issue further but I will. This is not the first time Micheal Robertson made me say "HUH", I did not like what he did with Lindows, but again it was his idea, his product and his company. Above link displays a letter from I will keep a tab on this story and followup
The creator of the SIPdroid, I-P-Tel GMBH also provides Free SIP Accounts. Need to Add them to my The Free SIP Account Provider List
GUAVA For Android
So the Gizmo people have released the GUAVA, GoogleVoice Unauthorized Android Voice Application for Android and now you can make calls for free over the wireless connection using Gizmo5 and Google Voice (Grandcentral). It seem to work even witout a SIM card in the phone.
In order to use GUAVA, you need:
- Gizmo5 software
- A Google Voice account
- An Android phone
- GUAVA for android software
Once you have got that combination together, using the wireless connection from the Android phone, you can do many things, according to Guava;
- GUAVA lets you make free calls to any US number using your Google Voice and Gizmo5 account.
- GUAVA lets you receive calls to your Google Voice number from wherever you have a net connection.
- GUAVA lets you make free calls to Skype users
- GUAVA lets you make free calls to Googletalk users
- GUAVA lets you send free SMS messages to US phones.
- GUAVA lets you read incoming messages (via the browser)
- GUAVA works fine without a SIM card in fact that's how it was tested.
- You can get GUAVA software from www.gizmo5.com/guava
So check out how a GUAVA tastes without having to go to Hawaii!

Load Balance SIP Servers With OpenSIPS
http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
OpenSIPS could be used to load balance media servers with the "Load Balance" module. The module provides capability to rout traffic based on the load.
The LB module defines the offered resources, and for each resource, it defines the capacity / maximum load as number of concurrent calls the destination can handle for that resource.
For an example derived form OpenSIPS docs;
The destinations are assigned with their resources ready to share and as mentioned the capacities. OpenSIPS Load Balancer Module documentation on OpenSIPS Load Balancing - how it works at OpenSIPS provides detailed directions to setup load balancing a set of Yate / Asterisk servers.
